Why Tallow

Why Tallow? (or Fun with Fat)

We get it.
It's weird.
AND once we get over that, it's awesome.

FIRST, What is Tallow?

Tallow is nutrient dense beef fat, rendered.
Rendering is heating to liquify the fat and straining out any
solid components.

It is fat from any grass-eating animal including cows,
sheep, elk, deer,
 water buffalo, moose.

FYI:
Lard uses the same process from pig fat.
Bear Grease is made from bear fat.

Why Choose Tallow?

YOUR SKIN RECOGNIZES TALLOW!
Tallow helps skin be its best self!

Tallow is BioCompatible with Human Skin

Natural Skin Sebum and Tallow have similar structure.
The amount of Saturated Fat matches.
The skin can use tallow as a supplement to natural sebum.

Skin is made of cells.
Saturated Fat helps cells and the body in two ways:

1. Saturated Fat delivers nutrients TO the cells walls to keep plump and firm skin
Tallow nourishes the skin to create healthy defence system.
Let out the things not wanted. Let in the things that are wanted.

2. Delivers nutrients THROUGH the cells into the cells and the body
Tallow nourishes the body by delivering fat soluble nutrients.
We’re delivering nutrients from outside into the body.

Delivering nutrients through the skin is an alternative to digestion!

Other fats sit on TOP of the skin. It may offer a bit of protection - but also gathers who-knows-what as it sits there. It certainly is not supporting skin functions.

TALLOW IS ACCESSIBLE! - Farm to Fork ...to Face

From the perspective of resilience and being part of the local economy, tallow is a wonderful ingredient!

In Alberta, considered by some as the Beef Capital of the World, we have access to Beef - and the Fat.

Now, all beef fat is not equal... be sure to choose grass fed and finished beef.
This fat will have the closest compatability to your skin's natural sebum.

TALLOW IS EASY TO WORK WITH - Go ahead and make your own balm!

YOU CAN PRONOUNCE TALLOW!

It’s farm and kitchen made, not lab made.

You know what it is and can avoid unintended consequences.
That's a whole deal we can discuss over time.
